Animal Care Team Member: FT/PT – Lynchburg Humane Society is looking for a few special animal lovers that can help our pets in need Find Happiness. To qualify for this position you MUST realize that our pets are counting on your care and dedication and TRUST that you will help them while they are at our Pet Center. You will show your dedication through arriving at work on time as scheduled, cleaning up after the pets because they NEED your assistance, you will comfort them in this new environment and help them look their best for their potential new family. The hours vary between 8-6.  We do have hours on the weekends and we are here on holidays, after all, they still need care. High School Diploma or equivalent required This is an entry level hourly position with benefits.

Customer Service Team Members: FT/PT- help community members find a new pet and ensures that it is a good match to their household and that the needs of the pets are being met while keeping an open, non-judgmental friendly counseling approach.  Our Customer Service Team Members will provide marketing and adoption promotion ideas and help with promoting the pets at the new center.  Along with assisting with adoptions they will field other questions and be helpful to all people seeking assistance at the new center.  We are seeking positive people who are able to multi-task, want to help people, possess great communication skills, good writers, comfortable with handling dogs and cats, outgoing with an engaging personality who have customer service experience.  Must be comfortable using tablets and computers and able to learn our animal sheltering software. High School Diploma or equivalent required.  This is an entry level hourly position with benefits.

Pet Resource Team Member – FT– We are seeking a medical associate to work with our contracted shelter vet and Shelter Manager. The qualified candidate for the position will be customer-service focused, highly organized, able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment, and be computer/technology proficient. Someone with medical experience or animal training or behavior experience is a bonus.   This position involves working and helping owners who need to surrender their pets in a friendly non judgmental way, vaccinating and testing the animals in our care, medicating and working with the shelter manager to ensure pets are ready for adoption.   If you are a dedicated, trust worthy, reliable person who isn’t afraid of hard work, in fact, thrives on being busy then please apply. Opportunities at the Main Center for Pets:

Licensed Veterinary Technician or LVT student – We are seeking a vet tech to work along side our shelter vet on our medical team.  The job includes medicating, testing, treating, vaccinating, giving TLC and basically helping pets get healthy so they can be adopted.    If you are a dedicated, trust worthy, reliable person who isn’t afraid of hard work, in fact, thrives on being busy then please apply. Opportunities at our Spay/Neuter Clinic:

Medical Associate – We perform approximately 35 surgeries per day 4 days per week. This translates to someone that has the ability to work from 7:00am until 3:00-5:00pm Monday through Thursday but be flexible based on surgery schedule. This is approximately 36 hours per week at a starting pay of $8 per hour. You will perform many functions such as checking in dogs and cats, prepping animals for surgery, cleaning cages, laundry, cleaning the building (sweeping, mopping, bathrooms, etc)  cleaning up after the pets, front office computer duties, preparing vaccines, and administering microchips.

Licensed Vet Tech – Seeking an LVT or LVT student for our spay and neuter clinic in Evington VA. Full-time or part time schedule available.  LVT students must have passed their Pharmocology course. Duties involve, but are not limited to, surgical assisting, vaccination and medication of surgical patients, patient check-in, drug log maintenance, and vaccine clinic appointments. Willingness to cross train and fill in other positions is essential. The clinic serves 7 counties surrounding Lynchburg City, accepting between 100-150 patients a week.  Our small staff thrives in a fast paced environment that is dedicated to quality animal care for both shelter and public animals. Pay and benefits are commensurate with experience and schedule.
